As a pregnancy and postpartum exercise specialist, Dr. Harmon helps women through pregnancy safe exercises as well as facilitate healing after baby. She is trained to help with diastasis recti (separation of the abs), pelvic floor issues (such as leaking or minor prolapse), back pain, and many other conditions.
What to expect:
You will learn about your pelvic floor, core and glute muscles. Everything we do in the office is external and focuses on muscular queuing. This includes breathing techniques that help with pressure management. Depending on what other issues you are dealing with, we will add in specific strengthening exercises.
What are signs of a problem:
You may be experiencing a pelvic floor or core problems if you have any of the following symptoms: Bladder leaking Heaviness in the pelvic floor Coccyx pain (tailbone) Constipation Pain during intercourse Urgency & frequently urinate Coning/doming of the abdomen
When Should I come in?
Please come in at any stage of pregnancy. If you just found out, you are pregnant it gives us nearly 9 months to work on building up your strength for delivery. Which increases your chances of having and smoother delivery and healing quicker afterwards. If you are postpartum, come in as soon as you feel comfortable! It does not matter if you are 3 days postpartum or 30 years postpartum, we can still work to improve your pelvic floor function. Everyone has a pelvic floor, we work with men and women, regardless if they have given birth.
How do I book?
Please schedule as a new patient and fill out your intake form with your health information. If you are unable to come into the office, feel free to schedule a health and wellness online appointment.
From Dr. Harmon:
"I had to deal with every single one of these issue after having my girls. It was a struggle because I didn't know who to turn to for help and trying to get into a pelvic floor PT was impossible. So, I decided to continue my education and specialize in pregnancy and postpartum exercise. I rehabbed myself after both of my pregnancies and learned the signs and symptoms to watch for during pregnancy. My second pregnancy and delivery went much smoother, I still had diastasis and leaking but they resolved much quicker the second time. I love helping women regain confidence in their bodies! Our babies should be the ones wearing diapers....not us!" Dr. Harmon
